Artful Happenings and Artful Women

Gorgeous pink peonies bloomed in my garden while I was away these last two weeks on a transformative road trip. They fit perfectly into the little antique jug I picked up in an antique shop on the Olympic Peninsula on the last leg of our journey. Plum blossoms and peonies – my two favourites. Hope and endurance matched with blooming sacred beauty.

In thinking about a post for today, I realized there are quite a few exciting new things going on around The Artful Life! Time to share!

One: Energy Alchemy

I’ve spent the last 12 weeks engaged in an incredibly rich process of inner work and transformation, learning new and quite amazing energetic skills which I’ve been applying to my life and work. This has happened under the guidance of an incredible teacher and wise woman, Hiro Boga. Hiro is the real deal; wise and pure of heart and possessed of rare skills in navigating the energetic realms. She also has the ability to pass on those skills in very workable and practical terms. I honestly can’t recommend her work highly enough. She teaches the life skills we didn’t know we needed but can’t imagine living without once we have them. In a world where many teachers promise transformation, Hiro delivers it. Or, I should say, guides us to it and through it if we choose to go. I am immensely grateful to have been able to participate in her twelve week program, Become Your Own Business Advisor. If you want to get a sense of what Hiro is all about this interview is a great place to start.

Two: Flora

On our road trip we passed through Portland and I had the great pleasure of dropping in on artist, author, and teacher Flora Bowley, speaking to her, and getting a peek at her beautiful new studio and home. That interview will be the subject of an upcoming post (look for it next week) which will launch a series of visits, real and virtual, with Artful Women who I think will inspire you. My definition of an Artful Woman is someone who is living a creative and authentic life, offering her gifts to the world, and successfully harmonizing her work, self-care, spirituality, creativity, home, and relationships. Flora’s passionate and multi-layered life is a beautiful example of living artfully. Her conversation with me was open-hearted, smart, and generous, an her space is just delicious (see one tiny delicious corner above.) Can’t wait to share all of this with you!

Three: Sacred Journeys

My recent road trip was a life-changing adventure. I explored my past and my future, visited mountaintop temples, was washed by powerful waves, witnessed beauty, opened ornate doors to secret gardens, and experienced both synchronicity and wholeness. It was a sacred journey!

Later this summer, I’m participating in another sacred journey – from my own home. I am bringing together an intimate circle of women for five days of creativity, movement, self-care, and mindfulness, at my Artful Island Retreat. From a beautiful hilltop house with ocean views, will explore our inner and outer worlds. Dance, art journaling, meditation, time in nature, all in the loving embrace of my beautiful sacred island.

The retreat is small, and it filled up while I was away, but I have just one more spot available, maybe for you! Each of the women who are coming are feeling called by their own souls to begin a time of deeper self-care. Maybe you are feeling that same call. Making the space for self-care can be challenging. A retreat can be a powerful, symbolic beginning of a new phase in your life – a time of self-love and self-care. If this rings true for you, you may be the one woman we need to complete our circle. Learn more about the retreat here.

Want to Go to Italy? How About Mexico?  More Sacred Journeys!

I have some really exciting plans for 2014! I am so in love with this idea of taking women on sacred inner and outer journeys. I want all of us to have richer, more creative, happier lives, and I know we build these lives on a foundation of self-love and self-care. And that means building habits of self-love and self-care. And sometimes what we need is a break. An ending and a beginning, a special time which marks our passage from the old into the new life.

My Artful Life Retreats are designed to be that special time, a precious transitional moment in our life which allows us to move into a new way of being, a way filled with self-love and built upon radical self-care.

Over the next month or two, I will be opening registration for a series of sacred journeys in 2014, including Artful Living in Tuscany in May, and Artful Living in Mexico in February. I am beyond excited.

Would You Like Me to Come to Your Place?

I am also planning a series of weekend mini-retreats throughout the US and Canada. These will be shorter, intensive versions of my Artful Life Retreats, unfolding over a weekend. If you are interested in bringing one of these mini-retreats to your community, drop me a line. I am still in the process of choosing venues, and I’d love to talk to you about your special place.

Four: Tranquility Tour!

I know! More exciting news! I told you there was a lot going on!

I’ve been following the work of author, entrepreneur, yogini, and sparkly tranquil lifestyle advocate Kimberly Wilson for a few years now. You might remember hearing me on Kimberly’s Tranquility du Jour Podcast a while back. Kimberly is an original, and an inspiration, and I’m so excited to be hosting her for a Tranquility Pop-Up on October 12 on Denman Island during  her upcoming cross-continent Tranquility Tour.

This 3-hour signature event includes a copy of Kimberly’s latest book Tranquilologie: A DIY Guide to Everyday Tranquility (retail $48), a seated yoga practice (no mat or prior experience needed), mindfulness meditation, art journaling, belly laughs, and heaps of inspiration. During our time together you’ll be showered with tranquil touches, learn ways to incorporate more mindfulness and ease into your daily life, connect with like-hearted women, and play in your journal with art supplies. Kimberly will share stories from her tranquility timeline, guide you through her favorite practices, and sprinkle a dose of glitter your way.

Bring your journal, pen, and an open heart. She’ll supply the rest. Oh, and an added bonus {think sprinkle on top}: sit in on a live recording of Tranquility du Jour following the workshop. You can find out more and purchase your ticket here.

An abundance of beautiful women and beautiful events! If you’re curious about any of this, you’re always welcome to drop me a line.

Pop your email in the box on the sidebar to hop on my mailing list and be the first to know about upcoming events. Happy Summer, beautiful!

Corinna - Wow! So many things going on for you. I might make it to Italy as this is not as far away as Canada.
There is one funny Canada fact in my life. My parents already booked a trip to Canada and then my mom became pregnant with me. As she has had 2 miscarryings already they decided to stay at home. None of us made it to Canada yet. Maybe that would be a good project 😉
I am looking forward to the Flora interview.

Bronwyn - Corinna it would be wonderful to meet you in Italy! It sounds like maybe Canada is not in the stars for you… 🙂
