Bronwyn-Simons

Hello Beautiful!

I’m Bronwyn. {It’s Welsh, if you’re wondering. It means White Raven. The original Branwen was a fairy tale heroine who survived all kinds of trials and tribulations, and was known for her beauty and strength.}

I’m an artist, writer, dancer, and teacher. I live on a tiny island in the Salish Sea. I love living intimately with nature; I am nurtured daily by the living ocean, the ancient giant cedars, the salmon-bearing streams, the mosses and meadows, the ravens and eagles and orcas and seals with whom I share my beautiful home.

I have made my living as an artist for nearly twenty-five years. I have explored many media, and my main work now is with ceramics, painting, and illustration. I also love art journaling, to keep my creative spark ignited on a daily basis! I am a dancer and choreographer and have explored many areas of creative movement over the years. These days, I use women’s sacred dance and gentle yoga as tools to help other women access and enhance their creativity.

At the center of my creative life are circles of women. My soul’s work happens here. I’ve been facilitating women’s circles for nearly thirty years, and leading women’s retreats for nearly twenty. Over and over again, I have witnessed the life-changing power of groups of women coming together with purpose. Leading and mentoring women is my honour and one of my greatest joys.

Imagine a world…

Imagine a world where each one of us is awake to the beauty within and around us  – a
world where beauty, tenderness, compassion, spaciousness, creativity, and things of the spirit are truly valued.

Imagine a world where we, as women, are free to serve our soul’s needs as deeply and completely and wholeheartedly as we serve the needs of others, a world where we can all do the work we were born to do, the work that serves our soul’s growth as well as it serves the world.

Imagine a world where every woman loves and honors her body, her creativity, and her contribution, and is able to care for herself, body, soul, and bank account, with grace and abundant support. A world where days of dreaming and gazing can rest comfortably and proudly in our calendars next to days of hard work and service.

This is the world in which I want to live. A world of deep beauty, healthy pleasures, and simple, abiding joy.

Each of us has the ability to create this world for ourselves –  I know, because I’m doing it.

My work, and my joy, is to inspire you to do the same.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Isabella Fuller - I find your blog so inspiring and interesting. I was lucky to have come across it when I was looking for artworks by Joseph Cornell for an art assignment I was doing about mixed media. I decided to look at your other posts to see what else you had to offer and I find that what you have been saying makes me think about myself. You have started to change my way of thinking (in a good way), so Thank-you.

Bronwyn - Hi Isabella, Thank you, I’m so glad you found the Artful Life. It means a lot to me to hear that my writing has moved you and changed your thinking for the better. Thanks so much for letting me know. xoxox

Patricia Wyndham - Hello I am just trying to come up with a women’s retreat/getaway and came across your website which has captured my imagination, I am an artist I luv to create funk-tonal art by taking old furniture and adding new life and meaning to it through paint I love color so needless to say these pieces are not for the faint of heart 🙂 your retreat in the new year really sounds perfect can you accommodate 4 women still? Would we be picked up at the airport? Price each is? Looking forward to hearing from you. I will pass all info to my twisted sista’s who will be the other three re-treaters and hopefully we can make this a reality:)
Thanx
Pat
